This makes for a cluttered Task list if you have many items placed in the future. To help with this, I have found a way to draw a bold line between due items and future items so it is easier to see at a glance which are due. To do this, create a new task described as "*****************" with (... more)

Can I use PQA files with anything other than a Palm VII?
Yes, you can. Palm Inc. sells a software program called the Mobile Internet Kit (MIK), which allows PQAs to be used on other devices. The PQAs will even work with a dial-up connection (with a PalmModem). You can get this at http://store.palm.com The MIK started shipping with most of the newer Palm-branded handhelds, starting with the m505/m500. Note that the MIK doesn't work with Palm OS 5. No word from PalmSource on future compatibility, but it's not looking promising. Omnisky comes with (... more)

Using a Palm handheld with a mobile phone.
If you're using Bluetooth (BT) and the Palm Tungsten T, make sure you've ran the Phonelink updater from Palm, Inc Support. Also, for help setting up BT with your Tungsten T, see the help videos located at Palm Tungsten T Support. For any connection to your phone via a Palm handheld, you must have your phone's digital service active. Talk to your phone provider to do this. Palm OS 3.3 changed the way any serial/IR connections are made to the device. See Palm OS 3.1 and below section (... more)

I have to press buttons twice to turn on my Palm handheld. Can this be fixed?
This used to happen in some of the VERY old PalmPilot models (Pilot/PalmPilot Pro/Personal), but has long since been addressed. Some folks report that this can also happen on some devices when the batteries are running low, particularly if it's the power button that needs pressing twice. If this is happening, change or charge your batteries, which should clear the problem up. If it doesn't, you might need to contact your device's manufacturer for replacement/repair. (... more)

Can I run Palm OS applications without a Palm OS device?
In the beginning there was CoPilot, a PalmPilot software emulator written by several folks, principally by Greg Hewgill. Then, Palm Computing (now Palm, Inc/PalmSource) decided to "officially" take over work on the emulator, and it was re-named to a generic name of the Palm OS Emulator, or POSE. POSE allows developers (anyone actually) to download the software and run Palm OS applications without owning a Palm device(you will have to sign up as a developer if you don't have a device (... more)

Does the Palm handheld have Digital Ink?
Yes, there are several applications that could be considered "Digital Ink" applications(the list has grown too large to list here!!). To find them, search PalmGear for "Paint" or "Graphics". Instead of trying to mention all of them, I'll list a handful of the more popular ones. Probably the most used application that falls in this category is the NotePad app, included first on the m100 handheld, and now standard on all Palm-branded handhelds. In addition to being the most used, (... more)

Do I need a screen protector for my Palm device?
No. You do not need a screen protector for your handheld. A large majority of Palm handheld owners use no screen protection and have had no problems with scratches/wear. On the other hand, there are those that have had scratches occur, most often in the graffiti input area. Should *YOU* use a screen protector? That's entirely up to you. Some people protect the entire screen, while others only protect the area that gets the most wear, the graffiti input area. If you (... more)
