Can I synchronize with Microsoft Entourage? (Mac)

If you use either Entourage 2001 on Mac OS 9 or Entourage v.X on Mac OS X you can sync your contacts, notes, tasks, and appointments to your Palm. The needed OS 9 conduits are included with Entourage but must be installed separately. The OS X conduits must be downloaded from Microsoft here.

Mac OS 9 users must have Palm Desktop 2.6.3 and a Palm device running at least OS 2.0. Mac OS X users must have Palm Desktop 4.x and a Palm device running at least OS 3.0.

Mac OS X users should be able to follow the instructions in the installation program, resulting in Entourage conduits within System Folder:Application Support:Palm HotSync:Conduits and your default Palm Address, Datebook, ToDo and MemoPad conduits within System Folder:Application Support:Palm HotSync:Disabled Conduits. Syncing should just work after the installation, but if you want your Desktop data to override the Palm data or vice versa on your first sync, you'll need to go into Conduit Settings and select the appropriate options.

Note: If you ever want to switch to syncing with Palm Desktop you'll need to move the Entourage Conduits into the Disabled Conduits folder and the Palm conduits into the Conduits folder.

Mac OS 9 users can find the Entourage conduit within the Value Add-ons directory on their Office 2001 CD. Before you can synchronize with Entourage you must:

  1. Drag the Entourage conduit into the Conduits folder normally found in <Palm Root Directory>:Conduits
  2. Drag the Entourage Conduit Support file into your Extensions folder in your System Folder
  3. Reboot
  4. Open Conduit Settings from within either Palm Desktop or the Hotsync Manager
  5. Double click on Address Book
  6. Select Do Nothing
  7. Click Make Default
  8. Double click on To Do List
  9. Select Do Nothing
  10. Click Make Default
  11. Double click on Date Book
  12. Select Do Nothing
  13. Click Make Default
  14. Double click on Memo Pad
  15. Select Do Nothing
  16. Click Make Default
  17. Double click on Entourage Conduit
  18. Select either Synchronize Private Records or Don't Synchronize Private Records
  19. Click Okay (this should take you back to the Conduit Manager screen)
  20. Close the Conduit Manager

You should now be able to hotsync with Entourage.
