Can I sync my Palm with Outlook Express? (Mac OS 9)

If you use Outlook Express 5.x on Mac OS 9, you can synchronize your contact information with your Palm. The needed conduit is included with Outlook Express but must be installed separately.

To install the conduit you must:

  1. Open the Extras folder within your Outlook Express folder
  2. Run the Palm Sync Installer following all instructions
  3. Open Outlook Express
  4. Select File|Palm Sync Setup
  5. Go to the General Options tab
  6. Select Enable Palm Synchronization
  7. Select either Synchronize Private Records or Do Not Synchronize Private Records
  8. Go to the Address Book tab
  9. Choose one of the synchronization methods. Unless you are moving new data from the desktop to the handheld or vice-versa, you should generally select Synchronize.
  10. Select either Home, Work, or Other address to send to your Palm
  11. Click Okay
  12. Open Conduit Settings from within either Palm Desktop or the Hotsync Manager
  13. Double click on Address Book
  14. Select Do Nothing
  15. Click Make Default
  16. Click Okay (this should take you back to the Conduit Manager screen)
  17. Close the Conduit Manager

You should now be able to synchronize your data.
